The Stiftung Demokratie von unten bauen is a non-profit foundation based in Rheinsberg, dedicated to strengthening and further developing democratic culture in the state of Brandenburg. Mission & Vision
The Foundation Building Democracy from the Ground Up aims to counteract the loss of trust in democratic processes by supporting individuals and groups who fundamentally develop and make democratic thinking and action practically tangible. It believes in the transformative power of self-determination, participation, and local engagement as the foundation of an open, diverse, and solidaristic society.
Target groups
Non-profit project sponsors in the state of Brandenburg are supported, in particular citizens' movements and civil society initiatives, associations and non-profit organizations, schools and educational institutions as learning venues for democratic behavior, projects to strengthen children's and youth rights, and initiatives to promote a future-oriented, democratic community. A prerequisite for funding is always the recognition of non-profit status (to be demonstrated by a current tax exemption certificate).
