About the funder
The Foundation for Fundamental Values and International Understanding is the responsible legal entity for the "Initiative: Responsibility before God and Humanity" and is recognized as a non-profit organization. It was established in 2005 under the active guidance and chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Lothar Späth and Dr. Hans-Jochen Vogel, with its headquarters in Heidelberg. The foundation's bodies (Board of Trustees, Executive Board, Advisory Board) include current and former members of constitutional institutions. In accordance with its statutes, the foundation promotes awareness of responsibility before God and humanity in our society as well as international understanding through reflection on God. It does not pursue any party-political objectives.

Mission & Vision
Conscious of its responsibility before God and humanity and committed to serving world peace, the Foundation is dedicated to promoting the awareness of values formulated in the preamble of the Basic Law and fostering international understanding. It offers "help for self-help" to current and former political officeholders and leaders in politics, business, and society, encourages discussions and working groups on fundamental values, and maintains a worldwide network of personal encounters. Its highest goal is service to others, particularly through support for the poor, disadvantaged, vulnerable, hungry, and refugees.
Target groups
The foundation's programs and activities are primarily aimed at current and former political officeholders and leaders in politics, business, and society, as well as people in distress, particularly the poor, disadvantaged, hungry, and refugees.
