About the funder

The Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research Thuringia (STIFT) was established in 1993 by the Free State of Thuringia as a private law foundation. As a non-profit and independent institution, it promotes science, research, technology, and education in Thuringia. It complements public funding programs through grants, low-interest loans, or guarantees and provides capital for this purpose from the returns on its endowment fund.

Mission & Vision

Innovation and the actors behind it are the driving force of STIFT. It creates foundations, structures, and spaces, provides knowledge, tools, and capital, connects regional, supra-regional, and international partners, and makes role models visible. Social values such as democracy, diversity, sustainability, tolerance, and openness to the world shape its actions and correspond to the principles of good foundation practice.

Target groups

The funding programs of STIFT are primarily aimed at Thuringian companies, universities, and research institutions, as well as networks, chambers, and associations. In addition, it supports educational offerings in the STEM field – from kindergartens and schools to student research centers. The goal is to strengthen, network, and equip actors along the entire innovation and education cycle with resources.
