Stiftung "Haus Bauhütte"

Public foundation

About the funder

The non-profit Haus Bauhütte Foundation operates the eponymous student residence directly on the Alster River in Hamburg. On its own property, 237 furnished single rooms and apartments are available, predominantly occupied by students of HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU), the University of Music and Theatre, the University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Hamburg. The property and buildings are maintained by the foundation, which receives financial support from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Due to its founding history, there is a close connection to the construction industry: representatives of the builders' guild and the HCU are represented on the board and advisory council, and students from architecture, civil engineering, and geomatics are given preferential admission. Leisure, sports, and study facilities such as a boat dock, fitness room, billiard room, and common bar promote communal living.

Mission & Vision

The Haus Bauhütte Foundation is committed to creating and maintaining a vibrant, affordable, and community-oriented student housing complex in Hamburg. It promotes social interaction, sports, and cultural activities, and supports students—particularly those from construction and design-related fields—on their academic and personal journey.

Target groups

The residential complex is aimed at students of Hamburg universities, primarily HafenCity University Hamburg, the University of Music and Theatre, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Hamburg. Preference is given to students in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, and geomatics; however, the dormitory is open to all enrolled students who value a central location, an international community, and diverse leisure and sports opportunities.
