Mission & Vision
The Stiftung Historische Musik promotes Early Music and historically informed performance practice in its diverse manifestations. It supports musicians and ensembles who understand music as the "language of the soul" and seek to look behind the mystery of historical scores. In doing so, it is guided by the principles of musical rhetoric from the Bach era and aims to revive them beyond mere virtuosity.
Target groups
The foundation's funding programs and projects are aimed at soloists, musicians, and ensembles specializing in historical music (from the Middle Ages to Baroque/Romantic with a regional focus). Also addressed are editors and publishers of historical scores, as well as initiatives that organize conversational concerts and Bach cantata performances in an intimate setting.
