Stiftung Kultur- und Begegnungszentrum Abtei Waldsassen
About the funder
The Stiftung Kultur- und Begegnungszentrum Abtei Waldsassen was established in 1998 by the Cistercian Abbey of Waldsassen and was granted legal capacity by the Government of the Upper Palatinate in 1999. It utilizes the listed former economic buildings of the monastery (Haus St. Joseph) for its work. The foundation’s focus areas are religion, music, culture, education, as well as environmental education and nature experiences. Within a comprehensive usage and renovation concept, the KuBZ offers an annual program with courses, seminars, and events in the fields of culture, music, education, nature, and religion. Since 2008, Haus St. Joseph has been operated by Kloster Waldsassen GmbH & Co. KG as a guesthouse and event venue.

Mission & Vision
We understand the KuBZ as a place of reflection, encounter, and mindfulness in the spirit of the Cistercian tradition ("Ora et labora"). Through our offerings in religion, music, culture, education, as well as environmental education and nature experiences, we contribute to the preservation of creation, peace, and the reconciliation of religions and peoples. Our goal is to enrich, educate, and connect people of all ages and diverse backgrounds in an inspiring monastery and garden atmosphere.
Target groups
Our funding programs and events are aimed at individuals and groups of all ages who have an interest in cultural education, music, religion, and nature experiences; at artists, cultural workers, and music enthusiasts in the Upper Palatinate region and beyond; at kindergarten, school, and youth groups within the framework of our environmental center and participatory programs; at church congregations, pilgrimage groups, and spiritual seekers; as well as at all those who wish to enjoy a retreat in the monastery and nature experience garden.
