About the funder
Stiftung Literatur is a non-profit foundation under private law based in Munich. Founded and inspired by the life’s work of Dieter Lattmann, it is dedicated to promoting political narrative literature and providing support for writers who have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own. Politically independent and non-partisan, the foundation supports literary works that critically examine historical and current power, authority, and social conditions or shape them as utopias/dystopias, thereby contributing to a vibrant political discourse.

Mission & Vision
The Stiftung Literatur aims to support talented authors of political narrative literature and to provide financial assistance to writers who are ill or have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own.
Target groups
The funding programs of the Stiftung Literatur are aimed at authors who write unpublished narrative literature in the German language with a political focus or who plan major literary-political events (e.g., festivals, symposia), as well as at writers who have already published at least one literary book commercially and are in need of support due to illness or unforeseen financial hardship.
