About the funder

The Solidarity Foundation for Unemployment and Poverty is a non-profit foundation based in Bielefeld. Since its establishment in 1999 by Franz Schaible, it has supported people in precarious life situations, particularly the unemployed, low-income earners, seniors, as well as families and refugees. With a wide range of projects – from social funds to children’s and refugee funds, as well as low-threshold services such as the Solidarity Basket, Solidarity Transport, or "One Pot for All" – it provides unbureaucratic financial assistance, organizes in-kind donations, and promotes social participation.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is lived solidarity: We aim to make poverty and social exclusion visible in Bielefeld and to give a voice to people with low incomes. Through voluntary commitment, financial support, and political participation, we create opportunities and contribute to ensuring that all people, regardless of their financial situation, can participate equally in social life.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at people with low incomes in and around Bielefeld. This includes unemployed individuals, recipients of basic social security, seniors, children and adolescents from low-income families, refugees, as well as people affected by housing insecurity or homelessness. Social workers, caregivers, and counseling centers may submit applications and facilitate assistance on behalf of their clients.
