About the funder

The Stiftung Tapfere Kinder is a non-profit private foundation based in Mainz under the patronage of Reiner Calmund. It adopts the core demands of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (equal treatment, protection, health, education, and social participation) as its guiding principles. The foundation protects young people living in poverty and violent environments, supports independent institutions for child and youth work, active street social work, and child protection programs in Germany, as well as a child protection program in Pattaya, Thailand.

Mission & Vision

The Stiftung Tapfere Kinder is committed to the values of humanity, justice, tolerance, and solidarity. It provides assistance regardless of religion, skin color, origin, or nationality. The goal is the long-term and sustainable empowerment of children and young people in precarious life situations, as well as the development of civil society structures to give children a voice and a real chance for a secure future.

Target groups

Socially disadvantaged children and adolescents in Germany who require protection and care due to poverty, neglect, or violence are supported (e.g., tutoring, leisure, and street children projects, children's village families), victims of abuse or human trafficking (medical and psychological care, prevention work), as well as street children in Pattaya/Thailand (drop-in center, rehabilitation and training programs).
