About the funder
The Foundation for Environmental, Nature, and Climate Protection of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (SUNK) is a legally capable foundation under public law, headquartered in Magdeburg with a branch office in Blankenburg (Harz). It was established on July 27, 2005, in accordance with the eponymous state foundation law. SUNK’s mission is to promote and implement measures for the protection and maintenance of nature and the environment, support climate protection projects, and encourage environmentally sustainable lifestyles and economic practices. Furthermore, it permanently secures nature conservation-relevant areas within the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Its activities are financed through state funds and project-related grants from Lotto-Toto GmbH Saxony-Anhalt.

Mission & Vision
The sustainable promotion of environmental, nature, and climate protection in Saxony-Anhalt is the guiding principle lived by the staff and management of SUNK. It acts responsibly, with long-term effectiveness and transparency, fosters openness and respect in collaboration, and strengthens social cohesion through information and participation.
Target groups
Exemplary and public projects in environmental, nature, and climate protection throughout Saxony-Anhalt are funded. This includes practical nature conservation measures, climate and resource protection initiatives, as well as environmental education programs, especially for children and youth. Eligible to apply are municipalities, associations, initiatives, educational institutions, and other non-profit organizations aiming to implement sustainable projects.
