About the funder
The TARGOBANK Foundation is a legally recognized foundation under civil law, based in Düsseldorf. Founded in 1986 to promote science and research in the field of private households, it expanded its statutory purpose in 2000 to include vocational training and further education. Since 2013, its focus has been on financial education in Germany, and from the end of 2020, environmental, nature, climate, and health protection were added. In 2023, TARGOBANK AG increased the foundation’s assets from €1.5 million to €10 million, thereby strengthening its long-term operational capabilities. As a member of the Donors' Association for German Science and the Association of German Foundations, it adheres to the principles of good foundation practice.

The TARGOBANK Foundation is committed to preserving an intact living environment that enables physical and mental health as well as equitable access to education. It supports projects that combine ecological and economic sustainability.
Target groups
Non-profit organizations based in Germany are supported, which are engaged in the three central thematic areas: environmental and climate protection (protection of natural habitats and resources), health protection (disaster relief, prevention, and health promotion), and financial education (imparting basic economic knowledge to children, adolescents, adults, and early-career researchers). The TARGOBANK Foundation supports both public funding rounds and long-term projects with established partners.
