About the funder

The Veit Pogner Foundation is a public foundation under civil law, established in 1984 to promote cultural life in the city of Nuremberg. Named after the patron Veit Pogner from Wagner's opera "The Mastersingers of Nuremberg," it supports projects that are not typically funded by public authorities or other institutions. Additional endowments to the principal capital are welcome to increase the yield for funding activities.

Mission & Vision

The Veit Pogner Foundation follows the principle "...and each gives as he can..." from Wagner's opera and aims to enable and sustainably promote a diverse cultural offering in Nuremberg that is not covered by other sources through private and public contributions.

Target groups

The foundation is aimed at cultural organizations, associations, initiatives, and individuals in Nuremberg whose projects or events fall outside regular funding programs. In particular, it supports initiatives that culturally enrich the cityscape and make an innovative contribution to local cultural life.
