Weißstorchstiftung Minden-Lübbecke
About the funder
The White Stork Foundation Minden-Lübbecke was established in 1997 by the White Stork Action Committee in the district of Minden-Lübbecke e. V. together with the NRW Foundation Nature.Homeland.Culture. Its goal is to secure the ongoing costs for effective white stork protection in the long term. The foundation primarily finances the maintenance and care of wet meadows and pastures as feeding grounds, mowing of meadows, shrub borders, as well as the cutting of pollarded willows and hedges, the renaturation and maintenance of small water bodies and water edges, accompanying success monitoring on the feeding grounds, and public relations work to raise awareness for white stork protection. Currently, the foundation has capital of approximately EUR 256,000, the increase of which is urgently needed to enable further maintenance and development measures.

Mission & Vision
As a non-profit foundation, we are committed to permanently preserving and further developing the habitat of the white stork in Minden-Lübbecke. Through sustainable funding of maintenance measures and monitoring, we secure extensively used grassland areas and thus promote a steadily growing stork population.
Target groups
The funding provided by the Weißstorch Foundation is aimed at nature conservation authorities, farmers, and owners of grassland areas in the district of Minden-Lübbecke, as well as private individuals and institutions wishing to actively contribute to the preservation of the white stork. In particular, measures that maintain extensively managed areas and thus secure the food supply for the storks are supported.
