About the funder
The Wilhelm Leuschner Foundation is a legal public foundation under civil law based in Bayreuth. Since its establishment in 2002, it has been dedicated to the preservation and communication of Wilhelm Leuschner's birthplace as a memorial and learning site. In its Wilhelm Leuschner Center at Herderstraße 29, it collects, archives, and digitizes Leuschner's estate and develops exhibitions as well as educational programs. The foundation collaborates with regional and international partner institutions to promote research, culture of remembrance, and political education on the German resistance against National Socialism.

Mission & Vision
The foundation aims to keep alive the legacy of Wilhelm Leuschner as a symbolic figure of resistance against Nazi rule and to convey his values of democracy, social welfare, and European understanding. It supports scientific, educational, and artistic engagement with Leuschner’s life and work and is committed to anchoring democratic values and civic courage in future generations.
Target groups
The offerings of the Wilhelm Leuschner Foundation are primarily aimed at school classes and youth groups for historical-political education, students and researchers, teachers and multipliers in political education, as well as members of trade unions and social democratic organizations. Furthermore, the foundation addresses interested citizens, civil society groups, and international educational institutions.
