William G. Kerckhoff-Stiftung für wissenschaftliche Forschung und Fortbildung
About the funder
The William G. Kerckhoff Foundation was established in 1929 by Louise Kerckhoff in memory of her husband William G. Kerckhoff. As a non-profit foundation, it has been supporting basic research and the scientific junior staff in the field of heart and lung research for over 80 years. The funds are primarily allocated to the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim, to scholarships for doctoral candidates, as well as to the maintenance and expansion of the institute’s building, lecture hall, and library. Donors and sponsors have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution through named endowments for equipment and guesthouses.

Mission & Vision
The William G. Kerckhoff Foundation aims to support the development and testing of new therapeutic approaches for heart and lung diseases, to promote outstanding early-career researchers, and to strengthen interdisciplinary exchange in order to achieve a tangible benefit for patients in the long term.
Target groups
Funding is provided primarily to early-career researchers (doctoral and postdoctoral candidates) in the field of heart and lung research, as well as to the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research itself. Additionally, the foundation targets committed donors and sponsors who wish to support research activities and infrastructure on a long-term basis through endowments and in-kind donations.
