The Offices for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (ÄELF) are represented across Bavaria with 32 locations and serve as direct contacts for citizens, agricultural and forestry enterprises, as well as local municipalities on site. Their core tasks include education, advisory services on public welfare issues, innovation and business development, funding consultation, and the enforcement of funding and specialist legislation. Organizationally, the offices are divided into the areas of agriculture and forestry. In the agricultural sector, each location has departments for "Funding" and "Education and Advisory Services"; selected locations also include additional departments for inspections and controls or horticulture. The forestry departments oversee the individual forest district areas.

The ÄELF aim to strengthen a future-oriented, sustainable agriculture and forestry in Bavaria. As part of the portfolio of the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry, they provide comprehensive advisory services, education, and legal support to competently assist agricultural enterprises and forest owners in the areas of innovation, business development, and funding management. Through practical services and cooperative collaboration, the offices contribute to securing natural resources, preserving the cultural landscape, and promoting the common good.

The funding and advisory services of the ÄELF are aimed at: farmers and forestry enterprises in Bavaria; municipalities and village development agencies; private households and consumers seeking information on nutrition and sustainable land use; companies and start-ups in the agricultural and forestry sectors; educational institutions and professionals in agriculture and forestry. The offices support both established businesses and start-ups, as well as committed citizens, in implementing innovative, environmentally and climate-friendly projects.
