Description

The agri-environmental, climate, and animal welfare measures (AUKM) in Bavaria are aimed at agricultural enterprises with at least 3 ha of agricultural land, horticultural and specialty crop farms, viticulture enterprises, alpine and pasture cooperatives, as well as recognized nature conservation associations. Funding supports voluntary activities for nature-, climate-, and water-friendly management, the promotion of biodiversity, as well as the preservation of historic cultural landscapes and animal-friendly livestock husbandry. The offer includes, among others, extensive grassland use, herbicide avoidance, flowering areas, erosion and biodiversity strips, and the use of insect-friendly mowing. The package also includes investment subsidies such as the renewal of hedges and field woods, the reconstruction of stone walls in steep vineyard locations, and the creation of structural and landscape elements. The measures are granted as annual payments (fixed amounts) or subsidies, with the amount of funding based on verified flat-rate costs or maximum rates per unit of area or tree.

Applications can be submitted annually online via the iBALIS portal within the specified period. A prerequisite for funding is compliance with specific technical requirements, a minimum area or number of trees, as well as the commitment to defined conditions and permanent maintenance and preservation periods. On-site and administrative checks are conducted to verify eligibility, measure concepts, and the expected environmental benefits. Compatibility with compensation allowances and direct payments is ensured; double and multiple funding is excluded through binding combination rules. Advice and approval are provided by the Offices for Food, Agriculture, and Forestry (AELF) in Bavaria. Organizationally, the AELF state network offers a central contact point for funding advice, application review, and on-site inspections.
