Description

On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, the Marler Bürgerstiftung is awarding a total of ten grants of €500 each to strengthen social cohesion and combat loneliness in North Rhine-Westphalia. Funding is provided to private initiatives, non-profit organizations, interest groups, as well as informal associations of neighbors and district initiatives that create sustainable meeting spaces in their immediate environment. The special prize recognizes projects that contribute to reducing isolation and strengthening the sense of belonging through participatory approaches, cultural, or intergenerational activities. Each measure must align with the broadly defined foundation purpose and be rooted in Marl to effectively promote local cohesion.

Interested individuals and teams may submit a brief description of the planned impact by email by July 31, 2026. A one hundred percent funding rate guarantees full financing of the commitment. Evaluation criteria include the tangible benefits for the immediate neighborhood, the creation of meeting places, as well as participatory and democratic project structures. The selection is made by the foundation’s board of trustees, which awards projects that concretely promote togetherness and set new impulses for a vibrant community life. This award opens the opportunity to put ideas into practice and sustainably improve living together in Marl.
