Description

The Aggiornamento Prize of the German Catholic Days, awarded every two years, honors outstanding projects and initiatives nationwide that address current socio-political issues or align with the guiding theme of the upcoming Catholic Days. Carriers of non-profit organizations, associations, interest groups, and also private individuals have the opportunity to apply with initiatives in the areas of engagement for social cohesion and democracy, culture, work & social affairs, as well as culture & media. The award is granted by the Lumen Gentium Foundation – Foundation of German Catholics and represents both recognition and support. It emphasizes the importance of constructive dialogue between Church and world and brings the message of the Second Vatican Council into the present.

A prerequisite for funding is a clear reference to the guiding theme of the respective upcoming German Catholic Days as well as the project's relevance to socio-political discourse. Evaluation focuses particularly on the thematic anchoring in the Catholic Days' guiding principle and the concrete contribution to strengthening democratic values and cultural participation. The award sets impulses for a modern and dialogue-oriented Church that seeks to be effectively present in a pluralistic society. Participation is open to all interested parties who, with their innovative approaches, promote coexistence in Germany and link ecclesiastical and secular perspectives.
