Active for Climate - Together for More Climate Protection

The funding program Active for Climate – Together for More Climate Protection of the Lower Saxony Lotto Sports Foundation is aimed at non-profit sports clubs in Lower Saxony that wish to organize their club activities sustainably. The goal is to empower volunteers to implement their own, not yet started climate protection projects and to establish a committed climate ambassador. A wide range of initiatives are supported – from LED lighting and water-saving showerheads to drinking water dispensers and plogging activities, as well as club flea market initiatives or the creation of flowering meadows. The foundation not only provides financial support with one-time grants of up to €1,500 but also offers impulses for public relations, imparts expert knowledge, and enables exchange through free training formats. In this way, clubs can set an example and act as multipliers for climate-friendly action within the sports community.

Applications can be submitted continuously; decisions by the committees are made within three to five weeks. Eligible to apply are sports clubs based in Lower Saxony that can demonstrate that the project has not yet started. Additionally, a responsible person must be appointed as a climate ambassador who participates in at least three training sessions and carries out at least three communication measures as part of the project. The Lower Saxony Lotto Sports Foundation offers all applicants individual consultation in advance to refine project ideas and increase the chances of success. This low-threshold grant program motivates committed club members to make concrete contributions to climate protection and to bring the topic into the public eye.
