Active on Site (Thuringian Volunteer Foundation)

The "Active Locally" program of the Thuringian Volunteer Foundation specifically supports non-profit organizations, particularly registered associations and federations, in the rural regions of Thuringia. With a grant of up to €5,000, projects in the fields of social cohesion, democracy, work & social affairs are supported. A prerequisite for submitting an application (planned for 2026) is having a registered office or activity in the rural area of the Free State as well as a non-profit association or federation purpose. For funding, a completed application form, a signed forwarding agreement, and a final proof of use must be submitted.

The focus is on measures that strengthen local togetherness and sustainably improve the infrastructure of the villages. Whether cultural or sports events, procurement of new materials, or community projects – "Active Locally" enables local initiatives to implement diverse ideas without fearing extensive administrative burdens. After the funding commitment, the forwarding agreement is sent back by post and the fund drawdown is carried out digitally via the funding portal. The Thuringian Volunteer Foundation accompanies the process transparently and in partnership to ensure that funds are used purposefully and efficiently. In this way, the program contributes to creating livable neighborhoods, recognizing voluntary engagement, and maintaining a vibrant association landscape in Thuringia’s rural areas.
