active land policy (land acquisition)

The funding for active land policy (land securing) in Upper Austria is aimed at public institutions, particularly municipalities, that wish to secure land for future residential projects and business settlements. The focus is on the acquisition of properties in accordance with § 15 (2) Oö. ROG 1994, in order to provide building land with the necessary infrastructure at an early stage. Purchases of residential areas for local needs as well as industrial zones and targeted land exchanges that expand the municipal scope of action are supported. The financing is provided as a direct grant, with a total budget of 0.2 million euros available. Applications can be submitted continuously until the funds are exhausted.

Eligible for funding are cities and municipalities in Upper Austria that wish to reserve land for infrastructure measures and construction-ready building plots. Projects are recognized where residential areas with appropriate development are created or business locations are consolidated in jointly usable, traffic-favorable areas. For the application, a fully completed funding application and the corresponding purchase contract must be submitted. The Spatial Planning Department of the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government reviews the projects and provides advice to ensure a balanced development between social, economic, and ecological requirements. The goal is to establish sustainable land policy and provide municipalities with long-term planning security.
