Description

The Emergency Aid Fund of the MONOM Foundation for Change enables rapid and unbureaucratic support nationwide for self-managed centers, housing projects, queer cafés, as well as event spaces and comparable venues beyond the mainstream. Funding is exclusively provided for acute needs such as damage repair after attacks, legal assistance in cases of defamation, or necessary security measures (e.g., improved door locks, lighting). Project ideas or event series are not the focus of the funding. Approvals are generally up to €2,000, with decisions made individually by a team of foundation staff and the board. Funding applications can be submitted at any time, as there are no fixed deadlines.

Non-profit organizations operating a self-managed space as a place for exchange, critique, and debate have access to this immediate aid, provided a current exemption notice and the association’s statutes are available. Applications must be submitted via the official Emergency Aid Form (PDF) along with the exemption notice and statutes in digital form. The urgency of the need, alignment with the MONOM Foundation’s funding principles, and non-profit status are evaluated. Feedback is usually provided within two weeks. In doing so, the foundation strengthens places of civil society participation and democratic discourse and contributes to social cohesion.
