General Funding in the Field of Energy and Environment

The general funding program in the field of energy and environment supports a wide range of projects throughout Austria that make a tangible contribution to sustainable development and the protection of nature and the environment. The target groups are companies, non-profit organizations, cooperatives, foundations, public institutions, start-ups, private individuals, interest groups, associations, as well as educational institutions whose projects focus on energy efficiency, renewable energies, environmental/nature conservation, and climate protection. The type of funding granted is a grant, aimed at anchoring innovative approaches in the long term and effectively advancing the transition to a sustainable energy system.

The funding program supports measures that deliver concrete benefits for society, the environment, and the climate. The overarching impact goal is the realization of a secure, competitive, and resource-efficient energy system that advances Austria’s climate and energy targets. A prerequisite for submitting an application is the professional and resource-related capability to carry out projects in the fields of energy, environment, and sustainability, as well as compliance with other provisions according to ARR 2014. Applications can be submitted continuously from 01.04.2025; there is no budget limit. The Federal Ministry for Economy, Energy and Tourism is responsible as the funding agency, ensuring transparent and reliable processing and supporting committed initiatives in their implementation.
