General Sports Promotion

The General Sports Promotion in Upper Austria specifically supports sports clubs and non-profit organizations through grants for youth and competitive sports, sporting events, as well as the purchase of sports equipment. With ongoing submission opportunities throughout the calendar year, the program supports both small club competitions and regional major events, which can be applied for up to two years in advance if necessary. The focus is on sustainable talent development: athletes receive financial resources for training and competition activities, while event organizers receive concrete contributions toward the organization and execution of sports events. Funding applications for youth and competitive sports must be submitted to the Regional Sports Directorate using a standardized form; applications for equipment purchases can be submitted informally. Eligible expenses include the acquisition of sports equipment, event costs, as well as expenses for training and competition operations. Required documents include the application form, invoices and payment confirmations, and, if applicable, a final report. The continuous submission throughout the year maintains flexibility for clubs, while the timely application for sporting events—especially major projects with a lead time of up to two years—ensures proper planning and organization.
