Description
The Free State of Bavaria offers a lump-sum grant funding within the framework of the "ALPHA+ better reading and writing" support program for nationwide literacy courses. Sponsoring institutions from educational establishments, public institutions, as well as non-profit associations receive funding of up to 90% of eligible expenses to professionally support residents and regular permit holders aged 15 and over with significant deficits in written language skills (Alpha Level 3 and below). The goal is to strengthen participation in professional and social life through qualified instruction and socio-pedagogical support. A minimum co-financing share of 10% of the total costs as well as early application submission – no later than two weeks before the course start – are mandatory. The funding runs until December 31, 2026.
Prerequisites for the grant include, among others, an independently prepared project concept, proof of certified quality management, and the deployment of qualified teaching staff. Courses must comprise between 60 and 200 teaching units (TUs of 45 minutes each) and have a minimum of three participants on the third day of instruction. Documentation of performance status and learning progress is mandatory. A flat rate of €42.23 per TU is funded for course delivery and socio-pedagogical support, up to €50 per project manager hour, €25 per TU for childcare, €5 per TU for teaching and learning materials, as well as a flat rate of 12% for indirect costs. Application documents include, among others, the project concept, personnel qualification certificates, a preliminary participant list, and a cost and financing plan.
