The program covers conversion measures such as pathway paving, ramps, stair lifts, barrier-free bathrooms, widened doorways, as well as burglary-resistant doors and windows, grilles, shutters, and modern smart home security systems. In addition to conversions and renovations, the initial purchase of barrier-free converted properties can also be funded. Up to 50,000 euros per residential unit can be financed at 100 percent of the eligible costs. Applications can be submitted at any time easily through a local credit institution, subject to available budget funds. It is aimed at all company sizes and private individuals and supports investments in residential construction & modernization as well as infrastructure & urban development.
To be eligible for application, the measures must meet the technical minimum requirements and be carried out by a specialized company. Applications for acquisition must be submitted within twelve months after building acceptance. Not eligible for funding are holiday and weekend homes, commercially used spaces, institutional buildings under residential care law, debt restructuring, refinancing of already completed projects, as well as digital entertainment devices. For submission, in addition to the information sheet “Age-Appropriate Conversion” and the annex “Technical Minimum Requirements,” confirmations from specialized contractors, general provisions for investment loans, and product-specific data protection notices must be provided; a consultation form is optional.
