Description

The Recognition Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Independent Cultural Work honors exceptional commitment and innovative contributions to autonomous, contemporary culture and youth culture in Carinthia. Since its first presentation in 2014, the state of Carinthia annually recognizes natural and legal persons who sustainably enrich the local cultural life through artistic and/or organizational initiatives. As a direct funding measure under the Carinthian Cultural Promotion Act, the awardees receive an unrestricted grant, which is ceremoniously presented during the annual Culture Awards ceremony at the end of the year.

Eligible for funding are primarily Carinthian initiatives (especially associations) as well as individuals with proven engagement in independent cultural projects. Both young and experienced actors from all regions of Carinthia may be honored, with voluntary activities explicitly acknowledged. A prerequisite is the approval of the award by the responsible officer of the Department of Arts and Culture. The selection is based on a recommendation from an independent jury, composed of members of the expert advisory boards of the Carinthian Cultural Committee, who assess the special commitment and sustainable impact of the initiatives. Since no fixed application deadlines are set, the award is regularly announced during the Culture Awards ceremony at the end of the year.
