Description

The “Großes Waisenhaus zu Potsdam” Foundation and the State Association of Kita and School Support Associations Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. annually award €5,000 to non-profit support associations that actively involve children and young people in decision-making processes and project work. The focus is on innovative concepts that strengthen participation and promote social cohesion—especially for young people from families or groups facing challenging starting conditions. Whether it is the communal design of schoolyards, inclusive sports and nature experiences, or democratic participation in everyday Kita life: ideas are sought that have already been implemented or are in the process of being realized and offer genuine added value. Evaluation is based on the degree of involvement, the focus on disadvantaged target groups, and the innovativeness of the measures.

Eligible to apply are non-profit recognized Kita and school support associations with headquarters or project locations in Brandenburg that have initiated or significantly supported the respective project. Online applications are submitted directly via the lsfb State Association’s portal—a completed form is sufficient to enter the proposal into the selection process. The jury, composed of representatives from the Foundation, the lsfb, and other experts, selects the awardees, who are honored in a ceremonial event in the Peace Hall of the Potsdam Foundation complex. This award highlights sustainably impactful contributions to education, social participation, and democracy education and further strengthens the committed actors on site.
