The follow-up funding COMET program in Styria supports application-oriented cutting-edge research in key technologies and runs from 01.01.2024 to 30.06.2027. With a grant volume of 8.5 million euros, the program targets companies and educational institutions that jointly conduct research in areas such as energy, high-tech materials, circular economy, artificial intelligence, life sciences, microelectronics, production technologies, robotics, and quantum technology. The goal is to establish and consolidate competence centers where scientists and industry partners collaborate interdisciplinarily. The focus is on strategically relevant projects that, through continuous evaluation and direct technology transfer, generate a sustainable innovation boost for the Austrian economic location. This results in new prototypes, market-ready solutions, and practical demonstrators that pave the way from basic research to industrial application.
Eligible for funding are primarily small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as research institutions submitting their applications in accordance with the FFG call for COMET projects 2026. Applications can only be submitted through the responsible funding agencies of the State of Styria. Applicants must attach project-relevant documents according to the specifications of the FFG call. The submission deadline extends over the entire funding period until 30.06.2027. Through this follow-up funding, participants have the opportunity to expand existing research capacities and build sustainable collaborations to generate a tangible added value for the economic and scientific location of Styria in technologically significant future fields.
