Description
The Art Curatorial Residency Programme of the Schwarz Foundation gGmbH offers young professionals from the fields of art and science a unique working environment at the Art Space Pythagorion on Samos. Amidst the picturesque harbor backdrop, just 1.2 km from the Turkish coast, the former hotel building provides 300 m² of exhibition space as well as accommodation for the Curatorial Fellows. Under the guidance of internationally active experts, participants develop their own approaches to exhibition curation and production, organize workshops, lectures, and screenings, and design complementary accompanying formats. The aim is to promote interdisciplinary perspectives and stimulate exchange between West and East as well as with the local community.
The programme is funded as a grant for private individuals with academic or professional qualifications in art or scientific disciplines who have a strong interest in curatorial practice. Participants gain comprehensive practical experience in exhibition management and benefit from a dense network of renowned curators, artists, and scholars. Through the combination of theoretical input, real production processes, and intercultural encounters, the residency creates ideal conditions for personal and professional development in the funding areas of culture, education, and culture & media. Applications from across the entire EU region are welcome to jointly set new impulses for contemporary exhibition formats and build sustainable collaborations.
