Description
The funding initiative Assistance in Schools in Upper Austria supports public institutions and non-profit organizations in employing assistants at compulsory schools. It is situated within the fields of education, children and youth, social affairs, as well as training and further education, and contributes to improving school participation through concrete financial relief of personnel costs. The goal is the individual support of children with special educational needs to enable equal access to schooling and promote social integration. As a grant, the measure exclusively covers the documented personnel costs of qualified assistants who are employed either directly by school authorities or in cooperation with disability support institutions. Since its inception on November 11, 2013, applications can be submitted continuously, ensuring flexible planning and ongoing financing.
Funding claims are made by an informal application from the school authorities or the parents via the respective school to the responsible educational region; proof of special educational needs is mandatory. Eligible expenses exclusively include the personnel costs of the assistants. For application and accounting, the forms S1 (Application for Provision), S4 (Service Records), and S5 (Target Agreement) must be submitted. Applications can be made at any time without fixed deadlines, allowing the measure to respond promptly to changing needs. The unlimited application period enables care services to be established in a needs-based and permanent manner. The measure specifically targets children and youth with special needs in the compulsory school sector to sustainably support their academic performance and personal development.
