Description
The Ahrenshoop Residency Grant offers freelance artists with their main residence in Saxony-Anhalt an exceptional opportunity to work and reflect for one month in October 2026 at the renowned Künstlerhaus Lukas in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt provides up to two applicants with a studio, an apartment, and a grant of €1,500, as well as covering travel and accommodation costs. The internationally active institution promotes transdisciplinary exchange in the fields of visual arts, performing arts, literature, music, and curating. Children and partners may accompany the grantees for certain periods by arrangement, although professional childcare is not guaranteed. Splitting the residency period is possible but should generally adhere to the announced timeframe.
Only freelance artists with proven professional achievements and artistic experience who pursue their work as their main occupation are eligible; students are excluded. Key evaluation criteria include the artistic quality of the proposed project, the relevance of the work samples, and the motivation letter. Applications must be submitted by February 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The award is decided by the Foundation Board in cooperation with the Artistic Advisory Board. The program offers not only space for focused work but also inspiration from the picturesque Baltic Sea hinterland character of Ahrenshoop and interdisciplinary dialogue with international fellows. This grant promises an intensive engagement with artistic projects in a quiet yet inspiring environment.
