August Schärttner Prize of the Sparkassen Sports Foundation Main-Kinzig

Since 1984, the August-Schärttner Prize of the Sparkassen Sports Foundation Main-Kinzig has honored outstanding young athletes aged 14 and above, as well as their dedicated coaches, from over 580 gymnastics and sports clubs in the Main-Kinzig district. Annual scholarships of up to €1,000 specifically support training and competition expenses to sustainably promote talents from amateur and competitive sports. Membership in the Hessian State Sports Association as well as affiliation with a local club form the basis for an application. The award ceremony takes place annually on September 18 and serves as a visible sign of the importance of voluntary support in youth and competitive sports.

This funding opportunity is equally aimed at athletes who have already achieved successes and at committed coaches who significantly contribute to athletic development. By alleviating financial burdens in training and competition, innovative training approaches are to be enabled and long-term athletic prospects opened up. With the August-Schärttner Prize, the Sparkassen Sports Foundation Main-Kinzig continues its tradition of motivating young talents and anchoring them in their regional club culture. Thus, the award not only strengthens individual performers but also makes an important contribution to the preservation and further development of the sports landscape in the Main-Kinzig district.
