Description

In Brandenburg, pig farmers in the officially designated ASF restriction zones II and III receive 100% funding to cover special additional costs related to African Swine Fever. The Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Consumer Protection (MLEUV) grants full and fixed amount subsidies for veterinary services (herd examination, blood sampling, veterinary consultation and certificates), veterinary travel expenses, as well as the official processing of transport until November 1, 2026. Additionally, increased mileage costs for transports to designated slaughterhouses outside Brandenburg (€3.40/km, max. €1,600 per transport) as well as separate slaughterhouse processing fees are reimbursed. A prerequisite is proof of pig farming at the time of the first ASF outbreak on the farm and a business location within restriction zone II or III. Funding recipients who already participate in the monitoring program are excluded from transport preparation.

The project duration is up to 48 months; applications can be submitted from January 1, 2023, to the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation (LELF). Required are a completed MLUK form, invoices and payment proofs for veterinary services, evidence of upstream and downstream slaughterhouse routes, as well as receipts for separate processing at the slaughterhouse. Payments are made as reimbursements from a minimum amount of €500 and are based on actual costs incurred. The aim of the funding is to support animal keepers in the restriction zones quickly and unbureaucratically, thereby preventing further spread of African Swine Fever.
