Description
The international competition AWS BoB – Best of Biotech supports innovative life science business ideas throughout Austria and is organized by aws Life Science Austria (LISA) on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy. The goal is to showcase and economically exploit application-oriented research results in biotech & medtech. The call for applications is open until 31.12.2025 and funds winners in each category with a grant of €8,000 each for a project duration of six months. aws BoB motivates scientists, students, and creative idea holders to further develop their concepts entrepreneurially and offers valuable feedback from experienced experts in patents, finance, and business management.
Eligible to participate are students, researchers, idea holders, as well as young start-ups (maximum three years old) from around the world who wish to realize their life science business idea commercially. The jury evaluates submissions based on the degree of innovation, feasibility, and market potential. In addition to monetary prizes, finalists receive networking opportunities with investors and industry specialists as well as media exposure within the life science community. aws BoB thus strengthens Austria’s position as a leading incubator for biotech & medtech and opens doors to follow-up funding programs such as aws Preseed and aws Seedfinancing. Interested parties should prepare their documents early to optimally benefit from coaching offers and online training.
