Promotion of the identification, strategic protection, and exploitation of intellectual property (IP) as well as the development and implementation of company-specific innovation protection strategies – especially in the field of Green Tech.

Description
The funding program aws Innovation Protection supports companies and start-ups of all sizes across Austria in the systematic identification, securing, and exploitation of their intellectual property (IP). With a special focus on sustainable technologies, particularly in the field of Green Tech, the program enables the development and implementation of tailored innovation protection strategies. Through a flexible coaching offer by recognized IP experts and patent attorneys combined with a non-repayable grant, consulting services, protection rights costs, as well as personnel costs for innovation protection management are funded. The funding amount ranges between €20,000 and €150,000, with a funding rate depending on the module from 50% to 80%. Applications can be submitted at any time until January 5, 2027, with a processing time of two to twelve weeks anticipated.
A prerequisite for funding is a business location in Austria as well as proof of innovative products, business models, or technological approaches. To be submitted are a detailed project or product description, a cost breakdown, and proof of the company location. The program exclusively funds expenses incurred after the application is submitted; excluded are, among others, travel costs, VAT, ancillary wage costs, and marketing expenses. The jury evaluates applications on a first-come-first-served basis by date of receipt for information sessions, the innovativeness of the project, and the relevance to the business model and market. Through this comprehensive support, technology-oriented companies, start-ups, and SMEs receive practical assistance in building solid intellectual property protection and sustainably strengthen their competitive position.
