The goals of the initiative are to increase the number of life science companies in Austria through start-ups and relocations, to finance innovative projects, and to provide optimal support for founders and companies through consulting services, training measures, and competitions such as aws BoB (Best of Biotech).

Description
Life Science Austria enables nationwide access in Austria to financial and professional support for founders, start-ups, and SMEs in the field of Life Sciences. The initiative offers a grant in the areas of research & innovation, corporate financing, business formation, foreign trade, digitalization, consulting, and foreign trade & trade fairs. With ongoing application submission until 31.12.2025, funding applications can be submitted at any time via the aws Funding Manager. Tailored deep-tech funding programs such as aws Preseed and aws Seedfinancing close financing gaps, while international marketing and export measures are supported.
The funding objective is to increase the number of Austrian life science companies through new formations and relocations as well as to support innovative projects. Through consulting services, training measures, and competitions such as aws BoB (Best of Biotech), participants receive comprehensive support on the path from idea to market maturity. A prerequisite is activity in the field of life sciences, at least 10% equity capital from the shareholders, and registration in the aws Funding Manager. The maximum funding rate is up to 80% of eligible costs, with a gender bonus up to 90%. A project duration of 24–60 months and a funding amount of up to €889,000 (with bonus up to €1,000,000) provide flexible scope for projects of all sizes.
