Description
The aws Preseed – Deep Tech module is aimed at founders and micro-enterprises throughout Austria who are advancing innovative deep-tech projects in the TRL 3 phase. Funding is provided for groundbreaking projects in digitalization, ICT, physical sciences, green tech, quantum technology, or life sciences that pave the way to market-ready technology by developing an initial proof of concept or prototype. With a funding rate of up to 80%, and up to 90% under the gender bonus, personnel expenses, material and third-party costs, as well as other project-related expenditures, are supported with up to €267,000 (or €300,000 for female participation rates over 25%). The project duration is a maximum of 24 months, with the possibility of a cost-neutral extension. Additionally, participants receive flat-rate innovation consultations to expand entrepreneurial core competencies and intellectual property strategies valued at up to €7,600 or €3,400 respectively.
Applications can be submitted continuously via the aws funding manager until December 31, 2026. Requirements include proof of concept (TRL 3), company formation (maximum 6 months prior), and provision of own funds (10%, or 5% with gender bonus). Evaluation is based on innovation and growth potential, team competence, as well as market and environmental relevance. Following positive assessment and jury recommendation, aws concludes a funding agreement which provides for milestone-based disbursements. Beneficiaries commit to evaluation, reporting, and publicity measures, as well as compliance with GBER and de minimis regulations. The program systematically promotes technological excellence and sustainable future solutions, laying the foundation for successful scaling.
