Construction funding for private compulsory schools

The construction funding for private compulsory schools in Upper Austria supports educational institutions in the construction, expansion, and renovation of their school buildings. As a direct grant program, it is aimed at the legal entities of private compulsory schools that possess public law status and ensure long-term school management. A written application with a detailed cost estimate and a catalog of measures must be submitted before the start of construction. All construction, planning, and renovation costs are eligible for funding, provided that the overall financing is secured and the general funding guidelines of the State of Upper Austria are met.

The funding is continuously available and requires compliance with provisions for appropriate and economical use of funds. Eligible recipients are obliged to document the use of grants by means of original payment receipts and a final accounting report. The designated use of the construction project must be ensured over a specified period. Funding exclusions apply, among others, in cases of unattainable funding objectives, insolvency proceedings, or violations of equality and anti-discrimination regulations. Applications can be submitted in paper form or digitally to the responsible specialist department of the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government, Directorate for Culture and Society – Department of Society. The legally binding provisions are derived from the General Funding Guidelines of the State of Upper Austria (current version), which also include regulations on repayments and possible interest in case of misuse of funds.
