Support for Gifted Individuals

The gifted education program of the state of Baden-Württemberg is aimed at particularly gifted and high-achieving students of all school types. Public institutions receive a grant for the organization and implementation of working groups, seminars, children’s and youth academies, as well as research projects. The goal is to identify individual interests and talents at an early stage and further develop them within an appropriate framework. Challenging learning opportunities are to be created both in school and extracurricular contexts, enabling talent-appropriate support and sustainably strengthening interest in STEM as well as humanities subjects. Applications are submitted continuously by teachers, subject to the approval of the respective school administration, thereby ensuring flexible integration into everyday school life.

In addition to subject-specific content, the program also promotes the social and methodological skills of participating students by establishing networks with renowned research institutions and academies throughout the state. Through collaboration with universities and scientific centers, young talents benefit from practice-oriented projects and highly qualified experts. Public institutions thus have the opportunity to tailor support programs to needs and implement innovative teaching and learning formats. The gifted education program is understood as a long-term support instrument that contributes to sustainably expanding potential and strengthening talented young professionals in Baden-Württemberg.
