Description

This support fund in Lower Austria provides financial relief for firefighters and other emergency personnel who suffer accidents during state-legislated assistance, rescue, or disaster operations. Eligible surviving dependents are also entitled to benefits. The grants include one-time allowances, ongoing subsidies, as well as earmarked monetary or non-cash benefits, which are granted according to individual needs and the severity of the accident. In determining the amount, income, assets, and family circumstances at the time of the accident are taken into account to ensure tailored support.

Private applicants may apply for funding continuously, as submissions are possible at any time. A prerequisite for a grant is the absence of a comparable entitlement under other legal provisions – excluding benefits from public welfare. The legal basis is the Lower Austrian Emergency Victims Fund Act (LGBL 4470). The responsible authority is the Finance Department F1 of the Lower Austrian State Government. Interested parties can obtain detailed information on the funding modalities and application process via the official state websites or directly from the specialized department. This flexible funding mechanism makes an important contribution to securing emergency personnel and their families in challenging life situations.
