Vocational Qualification Language Support Plus (BQS+)

The Vocational Language Support Plus (BQS+) in Hesse assists educational institutions and public agencies in supplementing labor market policy measures with targeted German language courses. Funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and state resources, support projects are implemented in three quality levels – entry, deepening, and excellence. The program is aimed at unemployed or at-risk adults with primary residence in Hesse as well as disadvantaged youth transitioning from school to work. Special consideration is given to the long-term unemployed, unskilled and semi-skilled workers, as well as individuals with multiple challenges who require vocational German language support. By didactically linking subject matter with language acquisition, a tailored integration into training and employment is ensured.

Funding applications can be submitted electronically via the WIBank customer portal by counties in Hesse, independent cities, and providers of training and employment promotion within the framework of funding calls. The grant is provided as a subsidy, with the amount specified in each funding call. The goal of this initiative is to sustainably qualify participants and improve their labor market prospects. Project sponsors benefit from clearly defined funding principles and comprehensive support from the Wirtschafts- und Infrastrukturbank Hessen (WIBank) as the certifying authority. BQS+ thus places an emphasis on high-quality, vocationally oriented language support as an integral part of labor market policy qualification measures in Hesse.
