Description

Vocational School Digi-Teams promotes innovative collaborations across Germany between engineering educators or technical didactics specialists at universities and practitioners from vocational schools or training companies. Within the framework of the program, the consortia develop digital teaching and learning modules that enable prospective vocational school teachers to didactically soundly integrate digital media into subject instruction. Each funding year until 2027, five projects will be funded with €50,000 each. The project duration is 15 months, and the funds can be used 100% for project-related personnel expenses, materials, and travel costs. Overhead costs are not eligible for funding. A key prerequisite is a formal commitment declaration from the program director to integrate the modules into the compulsory part of the vocational teacher training program. The results are to be published under open licenses and widely disseminated. A maximum ten-page application outlines objectives, cooperation structure, implementation pathways, sustainability, and transfer potential. Selection takes place through a competitive procedure based on criteria such as degree of innovation, contribution to digital teaching, and chances for institutionalization. The application deadline for the 2025–2027 round is April 15, 2026.

The program targets educational institutions and public sponsors interested in shaping digital vocational training. It creates a growing network of professionals from academia and practice, which promotes exchange through mandatory network meetings and advances the dissemination of successful models. The Vocational School Digi-Teams make a significant contribution to sustainably strengthening media literacy at vocational schools, as anchored in the strategic document “Education in the Digital World,” and firmly embedding it in future-relevant curricula in line with the dual education system.
