Description
Companies based in Carinthia can apply for direct grant funding under the Carinthian Employee and Continuing Education Promotion Act (K-AWFG) for the day course model "Vocational Matura: Apprenticeship with Matura Examination." Funding is provided to training companies that support their apprentices during the four-year apprenticeship in preparing for the vocational matura examination at a vocational school. The grant amounts to €500 per apprenticeship year in the first to third training stages and €1,000 in the fourth year. Prerequisites include attendance at a day course for matura preparation, a written confirmation of successful course participation by the vocational school, and proof of an active apprenticeship contract during the funding year. Applications must be submitted by October 31 at the latest for the respective completed preparatory course.
With this funding measure, the State of Carinthia aims to strengthen dual education and enable young skilled workers to acquire the general university entrance qualification alongside practical training. Payment is made once after the completion of the respective training year. Since the program is continuously open for applications, eligible companies can claim funding annually and thereby increase the attractiveness of apprenticeship training. The responsible department for processing is Department 11 – Social Affairs, Housing and Labor Market – at the Office of the Carinthian State Government.
