Description
The Bielefeld Integration Award of the Solidarity Foundation against Unemployment and Poverty annually honors outstanding commitment to participation, diversity, and democratic coexistence in the immigration city of Bielefeld. With a total sum of €10,000, the foundation, the Integration Council, and the City of Bielefeld recognize projects, initiatives, and individuals who contribute with creative concepts, low-threshold offers, or sustainable networks to overcoming social divisions and strengthening communal life. Under the motto “Passionately Committed – Against Exclusion and For Cohesion,” the jury particularly honors endeavors distinguished by innovation, effectiveness in integration, and sustainable structures. The award ceremony takes place annually in November in the council chamber and is granted by an expert jury composed of representatives from the involved bodies.
Funding is provided to non-profit organizations, associations, interest groups, as well as individuals with verifiable commitment in Bielefeld. All those engaged in the integration of people with a migration background and social cohesion are eligible to participate. Applications must include a completed application form, a project description, and proof of commitment. Evaluation criteria include innovation, contribution to cohesion, sustainability, and integration success. Submissions can be made digitally or by mail. This award process offers a platform to showcase exemplary best practices, strengthen the local network, and further expand participation opportunities. Projects that utilize existing potentials, create spaces for encounters, and actively counter discrimination are expressly encouraged to present their initiatives and thereby set a sign for solidarity and democracy.
