Description
The Education Account of the City of Vienna supports lifelong learning by partially funding job-related education and training for Vienna residents. Private individuals with their main residence in Vienna can submit course, examination, and certification fees to an education provider recognized by the Vienna Employees Promotion Fund (waff) and receive partial reimbursement of their expenses. By default, up to €3,000 is reimbursed; for qualifications in the digital sector and climate protection-related further training, the subsidy increases to a maximum of €5,000. The form of funding is a non-repayable grant and is available to employees under the ASVG, as well as to individuals on educational leave, part-time leave, or parental leave, new self-employed persons under the Commercial Social Insurance Act, and unemployed Vienna residents.
Applications can be submitted continuously and up to three months after the course ends (or four weeks after the course begins for special funding variants). Only course fees and examination or certification fees are funded; costs are initially borne by the participants and reimbursed partially upon submission of all required documents. Necessary documents include proof of main residence registration, evidence of employment or unemployment status at the start of the course, course attendance confirmation, a positive final certificate, and payment confirmations. Through the Education Account, Vienna residents receive a reliable financial basis for professional development and qualification – ranging from craft training and university entrance exam preparation to topics related to digitalization and climate protection.
