Educational Program "Hand in Hand"

The sponsorship and support program of the Wolfgang and Regina Böllhoff Foundation in North Rhine-Westphalia accompanies young immigrants aged 17 to 22 on their path to professional and social independence. Over a period of 24 months, participants receive individual guidance from experienced mentors who provide professional and personal support in choosing internships and training positions, as well as assistance with administrative procedures and everyday matters. Additionally, targeted language instruction is offered to achieve level B1 or higher, facilitating access to advanced schools and employers. Together, professional perspectives are developed to enable independent living in Germany after two years.

Another focus is on social participation: Regular meetings with tutors and other beneficiaries create networks and promote exchange on cultural, sporting, or charitable activities. This creates a safe environment in which personal strengths are discovered and social skills further developed. The program aims to overcome barriers, build self-esteem, and realize sustainable integration steps. Thanks to continuous support through the foundation’s sponsorship, a bridge can be built between educational or vocational qualification and active participation in the labor market as well as social life in Bielefeld.
