Description
The Chancenstiftung – Education Mentors for Germany supports children and young people aged 5 to 20 from low-income families nationwide with free professional tutoring services. Over a period of usually 12 months, scholarship recipients receive 90 minutes of intensive instruction twice a week in small groups. Both subject-specific support courses and German as a Second Language (DaZ) modules are offered in certified partner institutes. The goal is to sustainably improve academic performance, teach systematic learning techniques, and strengthen essential future skills to open up new educational opportunities.
Interested families must verify the applicant’s age (5–20 years) and demonstrate, by submitting current official notices (e.g., citizen’s allowance, social assistance, housing benefit, asylum seeker benefits) or income statements, that the net income does not exceed certain poverty thresholds. A handwritten motivation letter, a recent report card, and a portrait photo complete the application documents. Selection is based on financial need and individual motivation. Enrollment is possible at any time, as applications are accepted continuously. In this way, equal opportunities are promoted and young people are provided with reliable learning support—without fees for lessons, enrollment, or learning materials. This support lays the foundation for academic success and sustainably strengthens the participants’ self-confidence.
