Description

Since 2021, the Oberst Schöttler Injured Persons Foundation has been providing unbureaucratic financial support for personnel injured on duty within Germany through its Blue Light Relief Fund. Accessible nationwide, the grant is aimed at volunteer and full-time members of the fire brigade, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), and disaster control who have been injured during hazardous operations, as well as particularly needy survivors in the event of death. The fund covers medical expenses, funeral costs, and additional assistance for survivors, intervening where state benefits are no longer sufficient.

Applications can be submitted at any time; decisive factors are proof of the on-duty accident within Germany and affiliation with the fire brigade, THW, or disaster control. Documents such as medical certificates, accident verification, and, if applicable, death certificates are required for submission. Eligibility for funding is based on the urgency of the assistance needed and proof of the on-duty accident. Interested private individuals receive prompt support with an informal application and the necessary documentation to mitigate the financial consequences of operational injuries or the tragic loss of a family member.
